BROADWELL, Moses - Moses was born 14 Nov 1764 in Elizabethtown, NJ and died 10 Apr 1827. He is buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield with a Government headstone which was placed there by the Springfield Chapter of the DAR. His spouse was Jane Broadwell, who was born 6 Feb 1767 and died 8 Mar 1836. They were married 5 Nov 1788 and then moved to Hamilton County, OH. They had 12 children, three whom died young. He settled near Pleasant Plains , Sangamon County in 1820; He served from NJ as a Private, joining when quite young, with the Third NJ Regiment under Col. Elias Dayton in 1780. His name in inscribed on a plaque in the south mall of the Old State Capitol, which was placed there by the Springfield Chapter of the DAR in 1911.
